Kara S. Kennedy Associate
Kara Kennedy is a trial attorney with broad experience and varying interests. She has advocated for clients, large and small, in state and federal court. Kara particularly focuses her practice on helping businesses and individuals navigate complex, legal issues in a prompt and dedicated manner.
Kara joined Duffy & Young in 2016 after working as an associate with an international employment defense firm in Columbia, South Carolina. Kara gained valuable litigation experience before state and federal courts and administrative bodies. She was part of a litigation team that defended large Fortune-500 companies in employment discrimination cases. Prior to entering private practice, Kara served as a Staff Attorney in the South Carolina Senate. She has also worked on the House of Representatives side, as a law clerk for the Judiciary Committee during law school.
Kara received her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2014 and was admitted to the South Carolina bar that same year. Kara served as Symposium Editor for the South Carolina Law Review and was a legislative extern for a member of the House of Representatives. Kara attended the University of Georgia for her undergraduate studies and received dual degrees in International Business and Economics. During college, she spent a summer in Washington D.C. working for a U.S. Representative on Capitol Hill. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia Honors Program in 2011.
Kara and her husband, Jonathan, live on James Island. She enjoys spending time with her family, running, walking the Ravenel Bridge, fishing, and kayaking.Read more
