Kara S. Grevey Associate
Kara Grevey is a trial attorney with broad experience and varying interests. She has advocated for clients, large and small, in state and federal court. Kara particularly focuses her practice on helping businesses and individuals navigate complex, legal issues in a prompt and dedicated manner. The South Carolina Bar
recently selected her for the 2020 Leadership Academy, a distinction given to
seventeen young lawyers throughout the state.
Kara joined Duffy & Young in 2016 after working as an associate with an international employment defense firm in Columbia, South Carolina. She was part of a litigation team that defended large Fortune-500 companies in employment-related cases and provided outside counsel to businesses of all sizes. Prior to entering private practice, Kara was a Staff Attorney for the South Carolina Senate.
Kara received her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in May 2014 and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in November 2014. During law school, Kara served as Symposium Editor for the South Carolina Law Review; clerked in the South Carolina House of Representatives Judiciary Committee; and received a legislative externship with a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives. She graduated magna cum laude and is a member of the Order of the Coif, an honor society for those who graduate in the top ten percent of their law school class.
Kara attended the University of Georgia for her undergraduate studies and received dual degrees in International Business and Economics, along with a Spanish minor. She spent a summer interning in Washington D.C. for former U.S. Representative Jack Kingston on Capitol Hill. Kara graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia Honors Program in 2011.
Outside of work, Kara is a product of the Lowcountry: she loves spending time in the outdoors, running and walking the Ravenel Bridge, fishing the inland creeks, and kayaking. She also enjoys reading, cooking, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.Read more
