Seth Whitaker is a civil litigator with experience in cases both large and small. He particularly values opportunities to help individuals and companies in all manner of personal and business disputes. Seth's work has included corporate governance disputes, commercial litigation, defamation matters, investment and securities fraud cases, construction litigation, constitutional rights, lending and other creditor/debtor matters, and personal injury and property damage cases.
Seth's broad experience also includes formation of for-profit and non-profit entities, estate planning, and probate litigation work. He has helped clients plan both non-taxable and simple taxable estates and litigated claims related to estate, real property, and probate matters.
Seth is a member of both the North Carolina and South Carolina Bars. He also is admitted to practice before all U.S. District Courts in North and South Carolina, as well as the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and Eleventh Circuits.
Seth received his law degree from the University of Virginia in 2004, where he served on the Virginia Law Review. He holds undergraduate degrees in chemical engineering and political science from North Carolina State University. On graduation from law school, Seth served as a law clerk to the Honorable Phyllis A. Kravitch, United States Circuit Judge for the Eleventh Circuit. A native of eastern North Carolina, Seth spent two years with the Charlotte firm of Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson before joining Duffy & Young.
Seth and his wife, Tyler, a native Charlestonian, were married in 2008 and live in downtown Charleston.
